Be The Best You Can Be!

Picture
I am starting off my New Year Blog with my own hash tag.  (Many Inspirational thanks to the beautiful ladies from CC and Co. Youth Ensemble, pictured above!)    Though 2018 has been filled with ups and downs, one thing has not changed, and that is my belief that life is just too precious, and our time is just too valuable not to be the best we can be!  Over the past year, I have overcome an injured shoulder that I thought would never heal.  I have strengthened not only my shoulder, but me appreciation for exercise, proper diet, sleep and relaxation, and above all, a positive attitude.   I can honestly say that I have not been sick in years, thanks to a combination of the above!  I still have a long way to go, and many vices to curb, but am happy with the road I am on for the most part.   I am excited to get back in the routine of not only writing about my experience with health and fitness, but also to move forward with what I started out to do three years ago, and that is to promote it.  Starting very soon, I will be sharing tips, and coaching at some local trade shows.  I have never given up on my belief that everyone should do what they love.  Pink and Green Style began as a place to share my love for design and creativity with fashion.  It later bloomed into a platform for sharing my road to good heath with Isotonix and exercise/strength training as coached by my beautiful, fit daughter.
Today’s content is going to be simple.  Focus on what you like about you not what you don’t like.  Instead of saying “I hate my waistline; I need to lose weight,” say “I am going to do 25 squats every day to build up my butt, and as I do, my waistline will look trimmer!  Instead of saying “I am going to quit drinking alcohol all together,” say,” I am going to replace my evening glass of wine every day but one with an Isotonix in my favorite wine glass!”    Unless you are REALLY disciplined, trying to commit to a drastic change all of the sudden will just lead to you cheating and then getting disappointed in yourself.   Ultimately then, you will quit and write it off as a bad idea to begin with.
Here are some of my favorite disciplines that when added together, have equaled great success on my personal quest to be the best I can be.  If you adopt just some of them, even write them down, look at them, and practice them, until they become habit, you will win!

  • Stretch before you get out of bed!
  • Drink more water.  Before you even touch the coffee maker in the morning, drink a full glass of water.   Put a water bottle on your desk and on your nightstand
  • Say something nice to the first person you see in the morning.
  • Don’t take the closest parking place; walk a little.
  • Eliminate sugar.  Sugar is not your friend!  Get that in your head.
  • Read something educational every day.  It is good for your mind, and just plain smart, to know that there is always something new to learn.
  • If you don’t like to cook, try to!  The key to putting healthy foods in your body is to buy them, prepare them, and eat them!
  • Listen more.  Challenge yourself to listen better.  Try to learn and remember something new about someone around you every day.  It can be as simple as saying hello to a new face at work and remembering their name.  This not only strengthens your mind, but just makes you a better friend!
  • Feed the squirrels!  (or the birds, or a stray cat) All I leaned from my baby squirrel Johnson deserves a blog post of its own, but instead of just focusing on YOU each day, feed a wild animal;  it is tough for them out there.
  • Worry less about calories and more about vitamins, minerals and herbs.  Herbs will have many of their own blog posts this year.  Turmeric and cinnamon for example are wonder herbs!  Garlic is your friend, and honey is not sugar.  It is a necessity!
  • Most of all, sleep when you are tired!  There is always tomorrow to finish what you didn’t do today.  Nap if you can.  It is healthy.
  • Make today count, and #bethebestyoucanbe
